Three special milestones for Ken Forrester Wines
During 2019, Ken Forrester hosted a series of tasting events in Stellenbosch and Gauteng to celebrate 25 fun years of producing wines from their vineyards in Stellenbosch. The final event, The Long Table Lunch, was hosted on the 16th November.
The day-long festivities started off with a walk-around tasting, and a special private performance by the Bottomless Coffee band on the lush lawns in front of the original manor house dating back to 1694. A seasonally-inspired family-style luncheon, served with a range of Ken Forrester wines was enjoyed by all on the day.
The aim of the 25-Year Celebration events was to raise awareness and funding for Spark School in Lynedoch, an educational institution committed to providing top-class education to the children of the winelands, and a cause truly close to Ken’s heart. Out of these 25-Year events a bursary fund was created that will see underprivileged children getting a first class education that could lead to university.
But the festivities didn’t stop right there… The ‘321 Harvest Stomp’ event was hosted on the 29th of February in celebration of the 2020 harvest and the farm’s 321st birthday. This was an activity-filled family harvest event, which gave guests the opportunity to assist in making their own wine, whilst tasting the delicious KF wine range and enjoying lunch on the lawn. Top-quality grapes were provided for guests to lend a foot in pressing, and the grapes stomped on the day have been vinified separately. All the guests were given the opportunity to purchase this special wine at ‘winemaking team’ prices.
“This is such a fun way to enjoy the harvest on our farm, and a 321st birthday is a great reason to celebrate – if you needed one!”, says Ken.
2020 also marks the 20th harvest of The FMC, but for more about this you’ll have to keep an eye on social media via FB @KFwines, Twitter @KFwines or Instagram @kenforrestervineyards.
